A grand improvement over the Yamaha Clavinova series
The AvantGrand series by Yamaha features real wooden keys with a comfortable touch and key action inherited from Yamaha’s concert grand pianos. The series uses a sensor system to capture nuances of the performance, including key speed, depth, and hammer strength, translating them into an authentic sound reproduction far beyond that of their older Clavinova piano models.
Two grand piano sounds
When it comes to evaluating piano tone, personal preference plays a significant role. To help you achieve the specific tonal qualities you desire, Yamaha offers a unique solution with the AvantGrand N1X—an instrument that combines two exceptional grand pianos, each with its own distinct character to convey the emotions you wish to convey through music. With a simple press of a button, you can choose between authentic sound samples taken from a Yamaha CFX concert grand or a Bösendorfer Imperial. The Yamaha CFX, renowned as Yamaha’s flagship grand piano, offers a wide range of tonal colors, from sparkling high notes to robust bass tones. On the other hand, the legendary Bösendorfer is celebrated for its rich and sonorous Viennese sound. In either case, the lifelike sounds of the AvantGrand N1X enable you to push the boundaries of your expressive creativity.
Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM)
In a grand piano, strings and sounds resonate throughout the entire instrument, creating a rich reverberation that surrounds the listener with music. When you play specific strings, they vibrate, and other strings also resonate in response. This interaction among the strings adds to the piano’s complexity and richness of sound.
The AvantGrand N1X reproduces this using Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM). VRM calculates the diverse states of the strings for all 88 keyboard notes, capturing the subtle changes from moment to moment, similar to the highly rated Celviano GP510 and GP310. Consequently, the N1X replicates the multitude of factors involved in playing an acoustic piano, including which keys are pressed, the force applied to the keys, and the timing of pedal usage.
