This used Steinway piano is a stunning Model A III Parlor Grand built in 1924 being sold to benefit the Neighborhood Health Clinic in Naples.
Previously restored and refinished, the instrument features a rich, full tone and unique cabinet features that give it away as an historic piano. The “scooped” style music desk, rim moulding, relief legs, and detailed plate cast in the factory foundry are simply timeless. We have even preserved its original ivory and ebony keytops.
The third version of the Model A design, it measures 6′ 4 1/2″ long. The AIII added a cupola bar to previous designs and includes a full plate that covers the wrestplank, sans beading. This is the version with the inverted V-well between the bass and center tuning pins – assuring it is a genuine Steinway piano. It features agraffes on notes 1-51 and capo d’astro from 52-88.
The action predates the accelerated key mounting, however does include 3 tubular metallic action rails. The rim is a continuous, one piece design.
Scaled down from the Model B, the Model AIII is an enlargement of the AII Short Scale, with longer strings than AII through notes 51 and a curved bass bridges in place of the straight bass bridge in AI and AII.
