Steinway & Sons Model B has been called the perfect piano. It is a wonderfully-balanced and versatile instrument, perfect for intimate home settings, teaching studios, and recital venues alike.
It takes an entire year to build every Steinway & Sons grand piano, including the famous Model B. Using their unique one piece, continuous bent rim made of Hard Rock Maple, the piano’s case is designed to provide a solid foundation to withstand the forces of 236 Swedish-steel strings pulled to create the world’s most pleasing tones and nuanced color.
At once a musical instrument, a work of art, and a sound investment like no other.
Like the larger Model D Concert Grand, the Model B’s premium wool hammers are treated to withstand the effects of moisture and even to resist insects. Their shape is maintained with a compression wire after the felt is wrapped around the hard rock maple hammer molding and shank. Dampers are made of the same materials for consistency, contributing to the remarkable performance.
Individually weighted keys made of European spruce with chip-proof and stain-resistant covering on the naturals and a slip-proof covering on the sharps.
“For me, Steinway, like no other instrument, allows each individual artist to display his unique qualities of strength and refined sound. Steinway is the magical medium through which a pianist communicates with the composer’s mind and soul.”

“After playing a Steinway, it’s pretty hard to play anything else. It’s as though all physical obstacles of playing the piano are eliminated, and expression becomes effortless.”
“Playing a Steinway is like driving a Ferrari — it will take you anywhere you want to go at any speed, and with elegance.”
