“Early Parlor Grand” Model Steinway Piano in Brazilian Rosewood With Exotic Burl Wood Inlay.
This piano, known today as the “Early Parlor Grand”, was built by Steinway & Sons in 1865. This model was originally sold by Steinway as the “Style 1” grand piano, a style that Steinway produced from 1861 – 1879. When this piano was built, the majority of pianos built by Steinway were square grand pianos, with only a small fraction of Steinway pianos being of the grand or upright type.
This beautiful piano is created with the desirable cabriole leg style, and with carved music rack and pedal lyre. It is beautifully executed in highly polished Brazilian Rosewood with exotic burl wood accents and inlay.
Steinway grand pianos this early are quite rare, and the majority of surviving instruments are not in playable condition. This instrument has been refinished and worn parts have been replaced with genuine Steinway parts. It is ready to be played and admired.
All Steinway Pianos are a product of this great American company with a rich history. This Style 1 with the New York stamp was created in the New York factory, as it predates the Hamburg Factory.
This truly remarkable instrument would make a stunning addition in the home of anyone who appreciates music, pianos, fine furniture, or American history.
