Steinway Baby Grand pianos – known as the Model S – have earned a reputation for being the best grand piano when space is a concern. If you spend a few minutes playing this one, you will understand why…
This instrument passed our exclusive STAR inspection – which thoroughly tests the soundboard, tuning pins, action, and ribs – with flying colors. It is all original, we’ve certified it is all Genuine Steinway. It even has all of its original ivory keys!
Inside, it’s fantastic. The soundboard was well built and color matched. Fun to play, this Model S has a great resonance and reverb. Truly one of the nicest original condition used Steinway Baby Grand pianos we’ve ever played.
There are some marks on the cabinet, which is why we have taken a particularly deep discount on this one. It is the perfect piano for someone who is looking for the remarkable Steinway sound and feel, but is not as concerned about the piano looking perfect or like new. This could also be custom refinished to your choice of color.
The original bench is included.
Piano Trivia
The Steinway Baby Grand Model S was technically out of production from 1965 thru 1977, however some were produced.
Until 1935, Steinway & Sons’ smallest piano was the Model M, which stood for “miniature.” Today, many people consider the Model M the medium grand piano.
Paul H. Bilhuber designed the Model S, legend has it, in secret. Some in the Steinway family thought it was pointless to try to make a grand piano smaller than five and a half feet long.
