Using Steinway’s unique Wide-Tail design, this Boston piano boasts a larger soundboard and longer strings than most pianos up to 6′ 2″ in a footprint closer to that of a loveseat. At the heart of its moving, full sound is simply a better lower-tension design and exacting placement of the braces, bridges, and ribs.
You will hear longer sustain and a richer, singing tone – plus lower tension design pianos last longer. Steinway takes this to the next level by incorporating an all maple inner rim – the part of the piano that the soundboard and plate are mounted to – creating a solid foundation to keep the instrument stable for generations.
Like their flagship Steinway & Sons piano, each Boston uses Sitka spruce – proved to be the best material for sound – to comprise the soundboard.
